Wansalan E Dhar
Wansalan .E. Dhar is a young, dynamic youth of the Jowai Town, who resides in the locality known as Loompyrdi Ïongpiah Jowai, West Jaiñtia Hills District. His zeal and passion is none but his love for culture, its ethnic beauty as well as its rich culture and traditions inspired him to preserve and protect the unique dialect of the Jaiñtia People in spite of today's much westernization. He actively participates in the field of youth development & theatre works that involve the display of the culture and traditions of the Jaiñtia people. His songs of various moods are aired by the All India Radio Station, Jowai and D.D.K., Shillong. He actively participates in the National Day-Celebrations of the District and has represented Meghalaya during the Republic Day Celebration in Delhi in the year 2005 (where he performed as the main singer in the famous traditional dance of the Jaiñtias, the Chad Kyndei in which the reflections of the life of the famous Freedom Fighter of the Jaiñtia Hills, U Kiang Nangbah was portrayed). He completed his Schooling in Acting from the National School of Drama New Delhi (N.E.Z.C.C.) in the year 2005. He also actively continues to participate in the Discover Jaiñtia Festive Annual Events organized by the District Administration. He has acted in Local Pnar movies and also writes Articles for the Local Newspapers. A song-writer and a composer and play writer too.... he also participates in the "Chad Laho" the well known traditional and devotional song. A multifaceted youth indeed ...
Further on Wansalan E.Dhar recently released his Book of Poetries entitled 'Umchangped' meaning "The Spring through this book". The significance of this book is that he is able to bring out the beauty and richness of the Pnar Culture and tradition. The book's green cover signifies his love for a clean and green environment. This book is entirely written in the Pnar language. He then released his second volume entitled "Ñiaw Laho" on the 19.12.2010, followed by Ka Thup ki "Sur Chad Rwa" on the 24.04.2011.( Ka Thup "Ki Sur Chad R'wa" collection of Poems collected by Wansalan E.Dhar. All the poems are related to the "Chad Sukra", performed by the Pnar People before the Sowing Seasons).
In recognition of the relentless efforts in contributing towards the society he was felicitated by the Rotary Club of Jowai on 6th November 2010.
He then received the District Youth Award from the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, West Jaiñtia Hills District on 24th October 2011.
On 2012, Wansalan. E. Dhar came out with his newly registered publication called the "Ch'baeh Publication"
